Microsulis was formed in 1995 to develop and market a novel microwave system for treatment of menorrhagia using the minimally-invasive technique known as Microwave Endometrial Ablation (MEA).
Following receipt of CE marking for MEA in 1997 the company expanded across all functions, form product development and manufacturing to global marketing and selling.
FDA PMA clearance was achieved in 2003, and in 2005 Microsulis launched the disposable variant of MEA called FemWave®.
Today MEA is sold throughout the world with over 50% of UK endometrial ablation being delivered using the MEA system.
